Made using traditional methods to create home shoes that Nordic folk have been wearing for decades, felti pantoffels will make you feel like you’ve arrived home in comfort.
Each pair of felts is hand crafted and takes two days to make by a skilled artisan. Each pair is made lovingly by hand.
Locally sourced wool and washed in organic soap, our wool is not dyed. We only use the natural colours of wool to make our shoes. That’s why there might be some slight variation in colour when you receive your pair to what you see online.
Wool is warm in winter and cool in summer. Soft and cozy, its comfortable against your skin. Its washable, antibacterial and odor resistant. Additionally, its strong as steel and incredibly flexible to stand up to daily wear. All this makes wool last longer, which is good for the environment. After wool products run their course, they’re recyclable and beyond that are biodegradable. And, of course the sheep aren’t harmed to harvest the fibre, so each season they grow more wool – making it natures ultimate renewable resource.
The name felti was chosen because the process of creating the shoes is called felting, and the materials used, wool and leather, originate from the karoo veld. Felti binds these two themes together.
Felti is a South African owned company that supports the local industry and community by only buying local materials and employing and empowering local people.
Cleaning + Care:
Wool has a natural ability to self-clean, your felts will stay clean if you just air them out on a sunny day. To remove stains we suggest that you gently clean on the stain with a light wet cloth and wool soap. You may have to repeat the process a few times but make sure you always leave them to dry before starting again. Vacuum or blow your feltis clean from dust. Leather soles can be brushed and cleaned with a leather brush. Your feltis usually shed within the first 3-4 weeks of wear giving you a long-lasting comfortable feel for years to come. This is normal due to the natural treatment of our wool. Simply cut the shedding fibres off with scissors and discard as desired.
